Federal Duck Gift Set (11oz Mug and Coasters)
Curtiss Jenny Gift Set (11oz Mug and Coasters)
Graf Zeppelin Gift Set (11oz Mug and Coasters)
This Gift Set includes one 11oz mug which features the first four Federal duck stamps. To compliment this mug, included is a set of 4 Duck Coasters.
The Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamps, commonly known as “Duck Stamps,” are pictorial stamps produced by the U.S. Postal Service for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. They are not valid for postage. Originally created in 1934 as the federal licenses required for hunting migratory waterfowl, Federal Duck Stamps have a much larger purpose today.
The Curtiss Jenny airmail stamps are some of the most desirable stamps. This Gift Set includes one 11 oz mug that features the frist three US Airmail issues of the Curtiss Jenny. Complimenting this mug is a set of 4 coasters featuring the famous Jenny stamps and the rare invert.
The first U.S. Air Mail service was started in 1918. The aircraft chosen for flying from Washington D.C. to Philadelphia and New York City, was the Curtiss JN-4H. The Post Office set a controversial rate of 24 cents for the service, much higher than the 3 cents for first-class mail of the time, and decided to issue a new stamp just for this rate, patriotically printed in red and blue, and depicting a Curtiss Jenny, the biplane chosen to shuttle the mail.
This Gift Set includes one 11oz mug featuring the $2.60 Graf Zeppelin image.
This set also includes a set of 4 Zepplin coasters that feature the rare Zepplins stamp issues.
One of three that make collecting US Airmail stamps a joy. The design of the $2.60 stamp shows the Graf Zeppelin emerging from the clouds, passing a globe representing the earth, and traveling toward the West. The Graf Zeppelin stamps were first placed on sale at the post office, Washington, D.C., and the Philatelic Agency on April 19, 1930. 1,000,000 of each denomination were issued, and remainders were afterwards destroyed. The mail, when closed, was sent to Germany by boat, and then picked up at Friedrichshafen by the Zeppelin. The $1.30 and $2.60 values were used for postcards and letters respectively carried on the round flight, i.e., Friedrichshafen-Friedrichshafen or Seville.
